I’ve caught Florence’s cold and had planned a stay in bed day but the lure of proper coffee and cheese straws was too much. I feel a lot better after some fresh air and Flori loved showing off her new coat now that her arms finally fit! We have that Friday feeling already today as Daddy’s birthday weekend starts tomorrow with a trip to the zoo after swimming!

Happy Samhain! Samhain is a Gaelic and pagan festival meaning Summer's end. It falls roughly halfway between the Autumn equinox and winter solstice. Also known as feast of the dead, all souls night, feast of apples, festival of remembrance and the witches new year. It is a time to celebrate the end of the harvest and welcome in the darkening months. After birth and growth (spring and summer) comes death. The seeds of harvest have fallen into the earth to be reborn again later. It is also the time of year when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest so a time to remember our departed loved ones by putting photos on the mantlepiece and lighting candles. Traditionally, carving a pumpkin (if you want to be really traditional, it's a turnip!) would be done to frighten away evil spirits. However today a carved pumpkin does the absolute opposite and actually invites the ghosts and ghouls (albeit children in makeup) right to your door! We’re celebrating with a Halloween pizza party today with the babies from NCT and tonight we will light some candles to remember the ones we love who can’t be with us. The sweets are by the door ready for the Trick or Treaters too!
We had a lovely day out in #Orford yesterday. We visited the @pumpstbakery for lunch and hot chocolates and left with the biggest bear claws I’ve ever seen! 🥐 Flori chose the car journey to have a clear out which meant a complete strip wash and outfit change in the car on the side of the A12 as it was pouring with rain 😂 we went home via @snapemaltings for a couple of Christmas decorations as per tradition, although slightly earlier than usual so we may need another trip before the big day🤞🏻#Orford #orfordcastle #pumpstreetbakery #pumpstreetchocolate #autumndays #snapemaltings #snape#suffolkcountryside #familydaysout #familylove #daysout #ig_countryside #woodbridge #hotchocolate #mocha #castles #britishcastle #castlesofengland
