Happy December! We went to see the big house at the top of the road switch it’s lights on this weekend and it was just magical! 🎄 I’m baking my Christmas cake this morning and may start to wrap up some gifts. Christmas shopping is more or less done which is pretty darn organised for me! No Christmas tree until the middle of December in this house but we did choose our tree and it’s a beauty. I hope it stays cold now, I like being wrapped up! 🐧 ❄️
I’ve got that Friday feeling! We’re preparing for a weekend of fun! We’re going to see our new family boat, watch the light switch on at the big house at the top of our road (it’s so amazing that it has its own switch on!) and Flori has a visit from her Nana and Grandad! I’ve had a very non baby related sociable week. On Monday I made new friends at the New Moon Goddess Gathering to mediate, chat and eat some cake. Thank you @holisticwellbeingwithalice Then on Wednesday it was the first ever Mersea @poppylovesbookclub that I organised. The night was so well attended and I’ve had loads of requests to join for next month’s. Both of these things made me step out of my comfort zone and it felt weird not having a baby to hide behind. It also felt a bit odd doing something for me. I’ve definitely become more confident since I’ve become a mum as I’ve realised how capable I am, something I didn’t value in myself before, but being without her did make me a little nervous. Flori did not enjoy me going to book club at all it would seem. She refused to go to bed and quite literally sobbed like a baby. Thank fully I have a lovely husband who will tell me a barefaced lie when I text asking if everything’s OK so that I can enjoy my evening. It’s made me realise what a good attachment we must have, I was also a little bit pleased that she missed me 🙄 Being breastfed means that she can’t be left for very long anyway and nor do I want to. There’s plenty of time for that when she’s older. I’ll just enjoy being her favourite whilst it lasts.
Christmas crafting has begun! Made my first ever fully lined Christmas stocking with faux fur and I think it turned out alright! I’ve been back to the @thecheapshoptiptree for more fabric to make another one for myself now, no more fur sewing though, never again! What are you making this Christmas?
“It isn’t easy being a parent, not for any of us. Somewhere along the line, I figured out, the only thing really, I think, eventually a parent can do is say I love you, there’s nothing you can do wrong, you cannot hurt my feelings, I hope you will forgive me on occasion, and what do you need me to do? You offer up that to them. I will do anything I can possibly do in order to keep you safe. That’s it. Offer that up and then just love them.” Tom Hanks
A little bit late, but Happy 5 months to this little pickley rascal. You are so happy and content but with a fierce little temper (yay you do take after me!) you have made our lives truly complete. We love you so much little bean. Now if you could just sleep through, that would be great... x x x x @matt_j_smith
I’ve caught Florence’s cold and had planned a stay in bed day but the lure of proper coffee and cheese straws was too much. I feel a lot better after some fresh air and Flori loved showing off her new coat now that her arms finally fit! We have that Friday feeling already today as Daddy’s birthday weekend starts tomorrow with a trip to the zoo after swimming!
